Welcome to Great Bay Outdoors!

Welcome to Great Bay Outdoors!

Thanks for popping in to check out the store! My name is Joe, and I figured I'd share a little bit about myself as well as the business. I've spent most of my life bouncing from hobby to hobby, but there's always been two that have stuck with me and that I've never lost any real interest in. Fishing, and Hiking. Growing up my dad and I would go fishing from the start of trout season here in New York, on April first, all the way until school started again in September. We've fished for everything from sunnies and blue gills, to stripped bass in the Great South Bay and Atlantic ocean off the coast of Long Island.

Now, having gone back to college at 23, and currently cutting my monthly budgets pretty close, I've had to find ways to cut back on my expenses with fishing and hiking, and that led to me finding and using a lot of off brand lures, bait, and tackle, some of which, I've found to work far better than the big name brands in the industry. I'm extremely excited to be able to start bringing tackle and lures that I trust and catch fish on, to other anglers on a budget, and I hope you all keep considering me at the start of and during fishing season for any tackle needs you may have! Additionally, I plan on keeping this blog updated either weekly or bi-weekly depending on how busy I get with my own outdoor and fishing adventures, like the trip I took about a week ago to visit a cool trail just outside of Ithaca. I took this picture at the entrance to Gorge Trail, right before my phone decided to die while I was hiking with a friend from High School I hadn't seen in awhile. It's not a terribly long hike, only an hour or two, but it has some amazing views of the region and the way it turns into an almost ruined road on the down-hill side of the trail is really cool, just be careful coming down, as the rocks are crazy slippery when wet.
